What is the goal of this project?

Use lenses to magnifiy an light enough to create an image on photo-sensitive paper.

Context

I wanted to take a picture of the 2017 solar eclipse, but a pinhole camera wouldn't bring in enough light to make an image.

What tools did I use?

Jigsaw puzzle box and spray-paint for the enclosure, lenses to focus the light, photosensitive paper to save the image, and duct tape to hold it all together.

Introduction

Continuing with the theme of creating for myself crude versions of technology already perfected by the professionals, I built a black-and-white camera. I used photo-sensitive paper to take a picture of the brightest object I could think of, the sun.

Check out my camera:

It can take pictures.

Here's the inside.

I used it to view the eclipse.

That's all for now!
